Job Summary
The Senior Investment Advisory (IA) role is responsible for formulating and aligning with the Group to execute the strategic agenda for Investment Advisory. The primary objective is to maximize growth, market share, and profitability for Investment Services. This role involves leading the delivery of Investment Service Profit & Loss targets, providing investment advice to clients and Relationship Managers, and enhancing the bank’s “share of client wallet.” The Senior IA will collaborate with product managers to ensure product knowledge flow and drive customer experience through quality advice, tailored product offerings, and strong Relationship Manager (RM) relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Advisory: Provide independent opinions on the quality of clients’ existing portfolios and determine their risk appetite, investment preferences, and return expectations. Partner with RMs in client meetings to offer relevant solutions aligned with client needs.
- Business Growth: Work with the Head of Investment Advisory to develop and execute marketing initiatives for customer acquisition, retention, and growth.
- Customer Engagement: Directly engage with customers to deepen relationships and secure new business by analyzing needs and delivering tailored Investment services.
- Product Customization: Creatively adapt products to meet individual customer requirements.
- Performance Analysis: Analyze and review the quality of potential and existing business to ensure maximum profitability.
- Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer interactions.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with RMs, Team Leads, and other stakeholders to drive customer penetration and cross-selling opportunities.
- Branch Support: Periodically visit branches to support marketing efforts, disseminate Wealth Management product information, and understand customer investment needs.
- Market Intelligence: Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities, ensuring the bank remains competitive.
Strategy
- Develop, prepare, implement, and deliver the Retail Banking Clients Wealth Solutions strategic plan in collaboration with RMs, Team Leads, and the Segment Head.
Business
- Drive client revenues and returns for Retail Banking.
- Actively manage key clients to grow the Wealth Solutions Team Wallet.
- Monitor RM performance, identify underperformance, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with RMs, Acquisition Teams, and other stakeholders to increase customer penetration.
Processes
- Ensure adherence to all processes, policies, and procedures within the Priority Clients Segment.
Risk Management
- Implement and maintain systems and controls to comply with Group and Business Policies, Procedures, Standards, and Codes.
- Ensure Operational Risk Management and Reporting are integral to business processes.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
- Uphold the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Lead by example in embedding the highest standards of ethics and regulatory conduct.
- Achieve outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients, Effective Financial Markets, Financial Crime Compliance, and The Right Environment.
Key Stakeholders
- Internal: Retail, Business Banking, and Commercial Banking RMs; Acquisition Managers; Branch Managers; Wealth Solutions Operations Staff; Compliance, HR, and other relevant units.
- External: Existing and prospective clients.
Other Responsibilities
- Promote the Group’s brand and values within Nigeria’s Wealth Management and Investment Advisory sectors.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned under Group, Country, Business, or Functional policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Strong knowledge of local and global Wealth Markets.
- Sound market knowledge and analytical/problem-solving skills.
- In-depth understanding of banking processes and their impact on the Investment space.
Qualifications
- A first degree or equivalent in any discipline, along with relevant professional certifications.
- Minimum of 10 years of banking experience.
