Full Job Description: Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – Virtual Care

Position Overview: MaineHealth is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), also known as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), to provide urgent care, same-day care, and primary care management in a virtual environment. The role includes overseeing work within provider In Basket folders, conducting synchronous video visits, and supporting continuous process improvement efforts.

This remote position requires the candidate to reside in Maine or New Hampshire and work as part of a collaborative team serving MaineHealth’s ambulatory practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In Basket Management: Cover indirect work for various MaineHealth ambulatory practices, including overflow and coverage during provider absences (leaves, time off).
  • Virtual Care: Conduct synchronous video visits for the Virtual Same Day Care Service as appropriate, following MaineHealth standards.
  • Process Improvement: Actively participate in continuous process improvements, offering feedback and engaging in discussions on refining processes to accomplish team goals.
  • Collaboration: Work with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective patient care in a virtual setting.
  • Clinical Care: Provide evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment within the scope of practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree and completion of an accredited physician assistant program or
    • BSN (MSN preferred) and completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Current Physician Assistant license (or eligible) in Maine and New Hampshire and NCCPA certification or
    • Current Nursing License (or eligible) in Maine and New Hampshire.
    • Current BLS certification.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of professional practice in primary care preferred.
    • Competency in providing comprehensive healthcare, including diagnosis and treatment.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic medical records and HIPAA compliance.
    • Strong communication (verbal and written) and computer skills.
