Job Responsibilities
As an Accountant at Sweet Scroll, you’ll play a crucial role in managing and maintaining the company’s financial health. Your responsibilities will include:
- Accurate Financial Records:
- Review and verify accounting postings for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare detailed analytical management accounts and interpret their implications.
- Receivables and Payables:
- Manage accounts receivable and payable efficiently.
- Budget Management:
- Oversee budget processes and ensure strict budgetary control.
- Policy Development:
- Create and update accounting policies and procedures for optimal financial management.
- Payroll and Tax Compliance:
- Ensure payroll journals are accurate and statutory deductions (PAYE, WHT, VAT, and pension) are properly captured and remitted on time.
- Prepare necessary documents and liaise with FIRS & LIRS during tax audits.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Compute and prepare various financial analyses for business units and the holding company.
- Coordinate year-end audits for a seamless financial review process.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Substantiate financial transactions through document audits and reconciliation.
- Stay updated on financial regulations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Data Security and Professional Development:
- Secure financial information with regular database backups.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending workshops and participating in professional networks.
- Support Leadership:
- Assist the CEO and CFO with other accounting-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background:
- A Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting or a related field.
- An MBA or equivalent qualification is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant post-graduation experience across various industries.
- Professional Certification:
- Membership in recognized accounting bodies (e.g., ICAN, ACCA).
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting.
Salary and Benefits
- Monthly Salary: N300,000 – N350,000
