We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Editorial Assistant to join our team remotely.
Role Overview
As an Editorial Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the AFRH Editorial Board by managing and streamlining our editorial processes. From reviewing manuscripts to coordinating with authors and editors, your efforts will ensure the production of high-quality scientific publications.
This position is ideal for a proactive, well-organized individual with a strong background in research and scientific editing.
Key Responsibilities
- Editorial Workflow Management: Oversee the entire editorial process, including submissions, peer reviews, revisions, and approvals.
- Content Editing: Review and edit manuscripts for clarity, grammar, and adherence to AFRH’s formatting and style guidelines.
- Communication Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between authors, reviewers, and editorial board members to ensure timely progress of publications.
- Administrative Duties: Organize editorial meetings, maintain publication records, and prepare reports.
- Policy Updates: Assist in refining editorial policies and ensuring compliance with ethical and scientific standards.
- Social Media Support: Contribute to AFRH’s social media management to expand the organization’s reach.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Medical or Social Sciences is required.
- Research Experience: Prior experience in research or familiarity with scientific writing is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with online submission and peer-review platforms.
- Organizational Ability: Strong multitasking skills with the capacity to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with attention to detail in content and formatting.
Desired Skills and Qualities
- Experience with manuscript editing and a solid understanding of scientific publishing conventions.
- Familiarity with fertility and reproductive health topics is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of editorial standards and best practices in scientific publishing.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle various tasks.
- Social media management experience is an added advantage.
